Understanding HDFC Credit Card Reward Points
How does HDFC Bank calculate reward points?
Most HDFC Bank credit cards (such as Regalia Gold, Infinia, Diners Club, and MoneyBack) award reward points in fixed increments for every ₹150 spent on eligible retail transactions. For instance, if you spend ₹10,000 on a card earning 4 points per ₹150 block, the bank calculates floor(10000 / 150) = 66 completed blocks × 4 points = 264 points.
What is the formula used in this calculator?
Total Points = ⌊Amount Spent / Spend Threshold⌋ × Points per Block
Rupee Value = Total Points × Value of 1 Point
Effective Return % = (Rupee Value / Amount Spent) × 100%
What is the default redemption value of 1 HDFC reward point?
For standard cards like MoneyBack or basic cash statement credit, 1 point is typically valued at ₹0.15 to ₹0.20. On premium cards like HDFC Regalia Gold, points are worth ₹0.50 on SmartBuy flights and hotel bookings. On super-premium cards like HDFC Infinia and Diners Club Black, 1 point can be redeemed at a full ₹1.00 on SmartBuy travel bookings.
Are there transactions that do not earn reward points?
As per HDFC Bank's terms, certain categories typically do not earn standard reward points or may be subject to monthly capping: fuel transactions, wallet loads, rent payments, government/tax payments, cash advances, and EMI conversions.
